The short answer: the cheapest automatic car in Pakistan is the Alto VXR-AGS at Rs 3,166,480, which is Rs 171,619 more than the manual Alto VXR. After that come the Saga AT (Rs 3,949,000), the Cultus VXL-AGS (Rs 4,591,460), the Swift GL CVT (Rs 4,605,600), the City 1.2LS CVT (Rs 4,737,000) and the Yaris 1.3 GLi CVT (Rs 4,809,000). For most buyers the Swift GL CVT is the best value, because Suzuki fits six airbags and stability control (ESP) to every Swift. If you want a sedan, the City 1.2LS is the cheapest automatic from Honda, Toyota or Suzuki. The cheapest full hybrids in our list start at Rs 9,299,000 (Corolla Cross HEV and HR-V e:HEV), and on fuel savings alone they take years to pay back the extra cost.
We checked every price below on the maker's own website on 19 October 2026: Suzuki Pakistan, Honda Atlas, Toyota Indus, Proton Pakistan and Hyundai Nishat. Where the maker's site shows no price, we used the Autowheels price page and say so. All figures are ex-factory. Freight, withholding tax, registration and insurance are extra. For the manual cars as well, see our cheapest new cars in Pakistan guide.

AGS vs CVT vs DCT vs hybrid: which automatic is which
"Automatic" covers very different gearboxes in Pakistan, and the type matters more than the badge when it comes to comfort and repair costs.
- AGS (Auto Gear Shift) is Suzuki's name for an automated manual. It is a normal manual gearbox, but a computer works the clutch and changes gear for you. It is cheap to build and keeps fuel use close to the manual car. The catch is a short pause on each upshift, which you feel as a nod of the head. Lift off the throttle slightly during the shift and it gets smoother. It is used on the Alto VXR-AGS, Alto VXL-AGS and Cultus VXL-AGS.
- CVT (continuously variable transmission) uses a belt or chain between two pulleys, so there are no fixed gears and no shift jolt. It is the smoothest choice for stop-start city traffic. It needs the right CVT fluid at the intervals in the owner's manual. It is used on the Swift GL CVT, City 1.2LS CVT, Yaris 1.3 GLi CVT, the Corolla and the BR-V.
- Torque-converter automatic is the traditional automatic with fixed gears and a fluid coupling. The Saga AT and Fronx GL 4AT use 4-speed units and the Fronx GLX 6AT a 6-speed. It is smooth and well proven, though a 4-speed revs harder on the motorway.
- DCT (dual-clutch transmission) has two clutches that pre-select the next gear, so shifts are fast. The Alsvin 1.5 Lumiere DCT and the Kia Stonic Turbo (7DCT) use one. A DCT can feel jerky at walking pace in heavy traffic.
- Hybrid automatics such as Honda's e:HEV use an electric-motor drive system (Honda calls it e-CVT) with no conventional gear shifts. Honda explains the system on its official site. These give the best economy in traffic but cost the most to buy. See our hybrid car prices guide for the full hybrid list.
Small automatic cars under Rs 50 lakh, one by one
Suzuki Alto AGS: Rs 3,166,480 to Rs 3,326,446
The Suzuki Alto is the cheapest way into a two-pedal car. Suzuki's spec sheet shows dual airbags and ABS on every Alto, including both AGS versions. The VXL-AGS costs Rs 159,966 more than the VXR-AGS and adds the higher trim's extra equipment. Pick the Alto if you mostly drive solo or with two passengers in the city and want the lowest buying and running costs. Our fuel prices page uses about 22 km/l for the Alto, the best of any car in this list.
Proton Saga AT and ACE: Rs 3,949,000 to Rs 4,099,000
The Proton Saga is the cheapest automatic sedan in Pakistan by a wide margin. It costs less than the automatic Cultus and gives you a proper boot. Proton lists a new 4-speed automatic gearbox. The ACE costs Rs 150,000 more than the standard AT and adds LED daytime running lamps, 15-inch alloys, a sporty bumper and spoiler, and smartphone connectivity. It is the value pick if a sedan body matters more to you than the brand.
Suzuki Cultus VXL-AGS: Rs 4,591,460
The Suzuki Cultus AGS is more spacious than the Alto, and Suzuki lists dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child-seat anchors. The problem is price. It costs only Rs 14,140 less than the Swift GL CVT, which has a smoother CVT and much more safety equipment. Unless you specifically want the Cultus body, the Swift is the better buy at this money.
Suzuki Swift GL CVT and GLX CVT: Rs 4,605,600 to Rs 4,766,190
This is our pick for most people. Suzuki's own spec sheet lists front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and ESP on every Suzuki Swift, along with a CVT with a sports mode. The GLX CVT costs Rs 160,590 more and adds the upper-trim equipment. The two-tone GLX costs the same as the single-colour car. Compare the full spec sheets on the Suzuki range page.
Honda City 1.2LS CVT: Rs 4,737,000
The cheapest automatic sedan from Honda, Toyota or Suzuki. Honda's spec sheet shows a 1,199cc i-VTEC engine with 88 hp, a CVT, a 510-litre boot, dual airbags and ABS with EBD. The reversing camera is optional. If you want more power, the City Aspire 1.5 (Rs 6,069,000) and City Aspire S 1.5 (Rs 6,149,000) get the 1.5 engine, but they cost about Rs 13 to 14 lakh more. See the full Honda City page.
Toyota Yaris 1.3 GLi CVT: Rs 4,809,000
The Toyota Yaris GLi CVT costs just Rs 72,000 more than the City 1.2LS, and it gets a bigger 1.3 engine and Toyota's resale value. The jump to the Yaris 1.3 ATIV CVT is a big Rs 910,000. That buys a lot of extra equipment, but it also pushes you towards Fronx and Stonic money. The 1.5 ATIV X CVT costs Rs 5,999,000 with a beige interior or Rs 6,049,000 with black.
Changan Alsvin Lumiere DCT: Rs 4,899,000 to Rs 4,999,000
The Changan Alsvin Lumiere is the cheapest dual-clutch car here. We could not open a current price list on Changan's own website, so these figures are from the Autowheels price page, which records a Rs 4 lakh rise on 12 September 2026. Get a written quote before you pay. Our Master Changan line-up report covers the brand's wider plans.
Rs 50 lakh to Rs 75 lakh: when stepping up makes sense
Above Rs 50 lakh the choice widens into crossovers and bigger sedans:
- Kia Stonic Turbo X and Turbo S (Rs 5,499,000 and Rs 5,899,000): a 1.0 turbo with 100 PS and a 7-speed DCT, according to Kia's Stonic page. Kia's own price list still shows TBD, so these are the booking prices on the Autowheels price page. Read our Kia Stonic 2026 guide before booking.
- Suzuki Fronx (Rs 6,099,999 to Rs 6,874,999): the GL uses a 4-speed automatic, and the GLX models a 6-speed. The top GLX 6AT Hybrid (ADAS) adds driver-assist features that Suzuki lists, such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. Our Fronx ADAS vs GLX guide explains whether the upgrade is worth it.
- Honda BR-V CVT (Rs 6,429,000): the cheapest automatic seven-seater in this list.
- Hyundai Elantra 1.6 Special Edition (Rs 6,449,000): a bigger sedan for the price of a top Yaris.
- Corolla 1.6 Altis CVTi (Rs 6,699,000): the default family automatic. Our Corolla facelift price guide explains which of the six variants to buy.
- Corolla Cross Gasoline (Rs 7,235,000) and Honda HR-V VTi-S (Rs 7,299,000): the cheapest automatic crossovers from Toyota and Honda. Honda's HR-V price is a limited-stock offer.

Running costs: does a hybrid pay for itself?
Petrol is Rs 386.30 a litre from 17 October 2026 (see our fuel prices page). Here is a worked estimate for 40 km a day, or 1,200 km a month. Fuel averages are the figures used on Autowheels pages. Your own will vary with traffic, AC use and driving style.
| Car | Average used (km/l) | Working | Estimated petrol a month (Rs) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suzuki Alto | 22 | 1,200 ÷ 22 × 386.30 | 21,071 |
| Suzuki Cultus | 17.5 | 1,200 ÷ 17.5 × 386.30 | 26,489 |
| Honda City / Toyota Yaris | 13.5 | 1,200 ÷ 13.5 × 386.30 | 34,338 |
| Corolla Cross HEV | 17 | 1,200 ÷ 17 × 386.30 | 27,268 |
| Honda HR-V e:HEV | 21 | 1,200 ÷ 21 × 386.30 | 22,074 |
Payback estimate: the Corolla Cross HEV costs Rs 2,064,000 more than the Corolla Cross Gasoline. At 13.5 km/l for the petrol car and 17 km/l for the hybrid, the hybrid saves about Rs 7,070 a month, so the extra cost takes about 292 months (roughly 24 years) to win back. The HR-V e:HEV costs Rs 2,000,000 more than the VTi-S. At 13 km/l against 21 km/l it saves about Rs 13,584 a month, a payback of about 147 months (roughly 12 years). At city mileage a hybrid is about smoothness and refinement more than saving money. Higher mileage shortens the payback in proportion.
Which automatic should you buy
| If you want | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The lowest price | Alto VXR-AGS (Rs 3,166,480) | Cheapest automatic and cheapest to fuel, with dual airbags and ABS. |
| The cheapest automatic sedan | Saga AT (Rs 3,949,000) | A sedan body and boot for less than an automatic Cultus. |
| The best value under Rs 50 lakh | Swift GL CVT (Rs 4,605,600) | Six airbags, ESP and a smooth CVT for about the price of the Cultus AGS. |
| A big-brand sedan | City 1.2LS CVT or Yaris 1.3 GLi CVT | Rs 72,000 apart. The City has the bigger boot and the Yaris the bigger engine. |
| A crossover | Suzuki Fronx or Kia Stonic | Higher seating from about Rs 55 lakh to Rs 69 lakh. |
| Seven seats | Honda BR-V CVT | The cheapest automatic seven-seater in this list. |
| A hybrid | Corolla Cross HEV or HR-V e:HEV | Both Rs 9,299,000. Buy for refinement, since fuel payback is slow at city mileage. |

Before you book an automatic
- Test-drive in traffic, not just on an empty road. AGS pauses and DCT low-speed judder show up in stop-start traffic.
- Ask for the exact variant name on the booking order, such as "Swift GL (CVT)" or "Alto VXR-AGS", so you get the gearbox you paid for.
- Get an on-road breakdown with the ex-factory price, freight, withholding tax (filer or non-filer), registration and insurance on separate lines.
- Check the gearbox service schedule. CVT and DCT fluid changes cost more than a manual's, so budget for them.
- Pay only into the maker's authorised account and keep the receipt. Sales are soft (see our September 2026 sales report), so there is no reason to pay over list.
Verdict
An automatic in Pakistan now starts at Rs 3,166,480 with the Alto VXR-AGS. The best value is the Swift GL CVT at Rs 4,605,600, which has six airbags and ESP for about the price of the Cultus AGS. The City 1.2LS (Rs 4,737,000) and Yaris GLi CVT (Rs 4,809,000) are the cheapest big-brand automatic sedans, and the Proton Saga AT (Rs 3,949,000) is the bargain sedan. Hybrids start at Rs 9,299,000 and only pay back over many years, so buy one for how it drives, not to save fuel. Prices change often, so check the live figure on each Autowheels model page before you visit a dealer.
