Chery Q vs MG Binguo EV: Which Electric Hatch Should You Buy?
Pakistan’s compact EV market now has a particularly interesting comparison: the newly launched Chery Q against the MG Binguo EV. Chery Master Pakistan has introduced the Chery Q at an introductory PKR 5,554,000, while the MG Binguo EV currently sits at PKR 5,699,000 after its 2026 price revision. That makes the Chery Q only PKR 145,000 cheaper. The price difference is much smaller than some early comparisons suggested because those comparisons used the Binguo’s previous PKR 5,999,000 price.
More importantly, the two cars take different approaches to the affordable EV segment. The Binguo is the smaller, simpler urban hatchback. The Chery Q is larger, more powerful and carries significantly more safety and convenience technology.
So which one makes more sense for a Pakistani EV buyer?

Chery currently advertises the Q at PKR 5,554,000 and is also offering a 7 kW home charger valued at PKR 100,000 as part of its introductory offer.
The company has not published a firm expiry date for that charger offer, so buyers should confirm availability at the time of booking.
There is another detail worth understanding.
Chery Pakistan’s documentation refers to Comfort and Premium versions of the Q, while the launch price has been associated with the Premium model. A separate official Pakistan price for the Comfort grade had not been published at the time of our fact-check.
Battery and Motor: Chery Q Has the Clear Power Advantage
One of the largest differences is underneath the body. The Chery Q uses a 42.7 kWh battery and a 90 kW electric motor, producing approximately 121 hp.
The MG Binguo EV uses a smaller 31.9 kWh LFP battery paired with a 50 kW electric motor.

The Chery, therefore, has almost twice the quoted motor power. Interestingly, the MG’s quoted torque figure is slightly higher, but motor output figures alone do not tell the complete story of how an EV performs in everyday driving. Vehicle weight, gearing, throttle calibration and tyre size all matter. AutoWheels has not independently road-tested these two cars back-to-back, so this comparison does not claim first-hand performance impressions.
Do Not Compare the Range Figures Directly
The Chery Q carries a claimed 400 km NEDC range, while MG quotes 333 km under the CLTC test cycle for the Binguo. Those numbers should not be treated as a direct 67 km advantage for Chery. NEDC and CLTC are different laboratory testing standards.

The more useful directly comparable number is battery capacity.
The Chery Q has a 42.7 kWh battery, compared with 31.9 kWh in the Binguo.
That gives the Chery 10.8 kWh more nominal energy capacity.
For buyers who regularly travel beyond their city, the larger battery provides useful extra headroom even if neither official laboratory figure is reproduced exactly in real-world Pakistani driving.
Charging: Chery Q Looks Stronger on Paper
Charging is another area where the Chery has a significant specification advantage. Chery says the Q can charge from 30% to 80% in up to 16.5 minutes when connected to suitable DC charging equipment. The car also supports AC and DC charging and includes 6.6 kW Vehicle-to-Load capability, allowing compatible external devices to draw electricity from the vehicle’s battery. MG quotes approximately 35 minutes for 30% to 80% DC charging on the Binguo. For home charging, the Chery currently has another advantage. Its introductory package includes a 7 kW home charger, while MG’s current Pakistan Binguo documentation does not advertise an equivalent free charger. These charging claims still depend on the equipment available. The maximum advertised speed will only be achieved when the public charger can deliver the required power and the battery is within the appropriate temperature and state-of-charge range.
Safety Is Where the Chery Q Opens a Big Gap
Safety equipment is arguably the biggest reason to look closely at Chery.
The Pakistan-spec Chery Q Premium is listed with six airbags and an extensive advanced driver-assistance package.

The Q also includes a 540-degree HD panoramic camera system. The MG Binguo EV’s Pakistan specification is considerably simpler. It includes driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, tyre-pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and an immobiliser. MG does not currently list a comparable Level 2 ADAS package for the Pakistan-market Binguo. For a price difference of only PKR 145,000, that is a substantial equipment gap.
Chery Q Is the Larger Car
Although both cars are often grouped into the small-EV category, the Chery Q is physically larger.

The Chery is approximately:

That should give it more usable cabin footprint.
The MG’s smaller body, however, can be an advantage of its own.
For drivers who spend most of their time in crowded parts of Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi or Islamabad, the Binguo should be easier to place in narrow streets and smaller parking spaces.
Interior Technology: Chery Q Offers More Hardware
The Chery Q Premium has a technology-heavy cabin.
It includes an 8.88-inch digital instrument display and a large 15.6-inch infotainment screen.
Other equipment includes wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 50 W wireless phone charging, a powered driver’s seat and a powered tailgate.
The Q also provides a 70-litre front storage compartment, or frunk.
The MG Binguo takes a simpler approach with its dual 10.25-inch screens.
It also includes synthetic-leather upholstery, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold and smart keyless entry.
The Binguo is not poorly equipped.
The difference is that the Chery Premium specification provides noticeably more technology for almost the same purchase price.
Boot Space and Practicality
Chery quotes 375 litres of luggage capacity behind the rear seats.
With the rear seats folded, this expands to approximately 1,450 litres.
The separate 70-litre front storage area gives the Q another practical advantage.
MG quotes up to 790 litres with the Binguo’s rear seats folded, although its Pakistan brochure does not provide a directly comparable seats-up luggage figure.
That prevents a completely clean litres-versus-litres comparison.
The practical difference is simpler to understand.
The Chery gives buyers a larger body, bigger cabin footprint and additional front storage.
The MG gives buyers a smaller car that is easier to manoeuvre in congested areas.

Warranty coverage is especially important for buyers moving to an EV for the first time.

Someone using an EV mainly for commuting, school runs and short city journeys may not need the extra size or technology of the Chery.

Seat comfort, visibility, control layout and suspension behaviour cannot be judged properly from a specification table.
Chery Q or MG Binguo EV: Which One Should You Buy?
At the prices currently available in Pakistan, the Chery Q provides considerably more equipment while also costing slightly less. The difference is just PKR 145,000, yet the Chery provides a larger battery, much stronger motor output, six airbags, an extensive ADAS package, automatic parking, a 540-degree camera, V2L capability, larger displays, and longer warranty coverage. For buyers comparing the two mainly on price, safety, battery size, charging, and equipment, the Chery Q currently offers the stronger package. The Binguo still has a clear role. It is the smaller, simpler urban EV and may suit buyers who value compact dimensions and MG’s existing Pakistan presence over a long equipment list. Before booking either vehicle, buyers should confirm home-charging arrangements, insurance availability, registration costs, current delivery time, dealer support in their city, and the exact warranty exclusions.
