Hybrid car prices in Pakistan after 18% GST

As of 6 October 2026, Honda, Toyota and Hyundai have cut their local hybrid prices after the government moved locally made hybrids up to 2,000cc from 25% to 18% sales tax from 13 September 2026. Jaecoo and MG prices are unsettled: dealers are quoting higher October prices for the J5 and ZS Hybrid+, but neither rise appears on NexGen's or MG's own price sheets. Kia and Sazgar (Haval) are holding: Kia has announced no new Sportage price, and Sazgar says it is absorbing the tax for now. Below are the figures the makers have confirmed, with their dates, and the ones Autowheels is still waiting on.

All prices are ex-factory in Pakistani rupees. Freight, withholding tax, insurance and registration are extra.

What changed in the tax

The Finance Division issued SRO 1525(I)/2026 on 13 September 2026, effective immediately. The SRO says the 25% table in SRO 297(I)/2023 "shall not apply to locally manufactured hybrid electric vehicles with engine capacity upto 2000cc." Those cars fall back to the standard 18% rate.

Three limits matter:

  • Local assembly only. Imported hybrids are not covered.
  • Up to 2,000cc only. Larger hybrids are not covered.
  • It covers hybrids, not every car up to 2,000cc. The SRO wording applies to locally manufactured hybrid electric vehicles, so petrol-only cars of the same size stay where they were.

Confirmed old vs new hybrid prices

Each row below comes from the maker's own price list or price notification.

Honda and Toyota dates are not the same

Toyota: the notification takes effect from 13 September 2026, the date of the SRO, even though the new prices were made public later in September. The Cross HEV had risen from Rs 8,535,000 to Rs 9,849,000 on 1 July, so this cut takes back part of that rise.

Honda: Honda Atlas's new HR-V prices apply to orders invoiced from 25 September 2026, on limited stock. Honda's HR-V e:HEV page shows Rs 9,299,000 but no date or end date.

Specs and variants: Honda HR-V, HR-V variants (incl. e:HEV), Toyota Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross HEV, Corolla Cross HEV X, Hyundai Tucson. Use those pages for specs and photos. The prices in this article are the dated figures from the makers' own price lists and notifications.

Other Hyundai hybrids

Hyundai's own site shows "from" prices only, and we have not seen variant-level post-SRO prices there for the Tucson Hybrid Signature AWD, the Elantra Hybrid or the Santa Fe Hybrid. Dealers are quoting lower figures for all three; Autowheels will update once Hyundai Nishat confirms them. Until then, ask for the exact variant price in writing and check the model pages: Tucson, Elantra, Santa Fe.

Some listings still show the Tucson at about Rs 1.12 to 1.22 crore. That was the price before August, and it is out of date.

Dealer quotes the makers have not confirmed

As of 6 October 2026, the moves below are not on the company's own price sheet. Get the price in writing from the dealer before you pay.

Jaecoo J5 HEV: dealers quoting a rise from 1 October

Dealers are quoting higher J5 HEV prices from October. NexGen's own J5 price sheet still showed Rs 6,699,000 (Comfort) and Rs 7,699,000 (Premium) when last checked on 3 October, and we have not seen a price notice from NexGen. Autowheels will update once NexGen confirms. Model page: Jaecoo J5.

MG ZS Hybrid+: new October prices not confirmed

Dealers are quoting new ZS Hybrid+ prices for October, but MG's own sheet does not confirm them. Autowheels will update once MG confirms. Model page: MG ZS.

MG HS Hybrid+

Dealers are quoting a higher HS Hybrid+ price since mid-September. Autowheels will update once MG confirms. Model page: MG HS.

Who held: Kia and Haval

Kia Sportage L HEV

Kia has announced no new Sportage hybrid price since the 13 September SRO. Do not assume the Sportage got the 18% cut. The last announced figures are from the August 2026 tax rise: FWD HEV Rs 12,199,000 (was Rs 11,299,000) and AWD HEV Rs 13,299,000 (was Rs 12,240,000), ex-factory, excluding freight and insurance. On 30 September, Kia's own site showed no Sportage L price, and Lucky Motor (Kia's local assembler) has said the final price depends on clarity on federal sales tax. Ask Lucky Motor for a written quote. Model page: Kia Sportage L.

Haval Jolion HEV and H6 HEV

Sazgar has said Haval and Tank prices will stay at the old tax level until the auto policy is announced, and at its 26 September AGM management said it was absorbing the increase while it waits for a lower-GST policy. We found no Sazgar price list dated October. The last published lists are from June 2026, so we are not printing a Haval price as current. Ask the dealer for the invoice price. Model pages: Haval range, Jolion, Jolion HEV, H6 HEV.

Suzuki Fronx hybrid: figures do not line up

Fronx hybrid prices circulating since the SRO use different variant names and different figures from Suzuki's own list, so we are not publishing a single Fronx hybrid price. Ask a Suzuki dealer for a written quote that names the exact variant. Model page: Suzuki Fronx.

Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs): not settled

The SRO text does not name plug-in hybrids, and FBR has not clarified whether "hybrid" includes them. Some PHEV prices have moved anyway.

  • Chery: dealers are quoting lower Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV prices on limited stock. Autowheels will update once Chery confirms. Model pages: Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, Tiggo 9.
  • Jaecoo J7 SHS Premium: Rs 9,999,000 on NexGen's own price sheet, uploaded 23 September 2026. Model page: Jaecoo J7.

If you are buying a PHEV, ask for the sales-tax rate to be shown on the invoice in writing.

Is a hybrid worth the extra?

On Toyota's own price list (30 September), the Corolla Cross 1.8 petrol is Rs 7,235,000 against Rs 9,299,000 for the HEV, a gap of about Rs 20.6 lakh. The HR-V VTi-S at Rs 7,299,000 against the e:HEV at Rs 9,299,000 is a gap of Rs 20 lakh. How quickly that gap pays back depends on how far you drive: heavy stop-start city use favours the hybrid most, while light use can take many years to recover the premium. Petrol (Super) is Rs 393.64 per litre from 6 October 2026, per our fuel price page. You can put models side by side with the compare tool or browse all new cars.

Pakistan Hybrid and EV Taxes in 2026: What Is Law Now and What Is Still Draft

Pakistan’s hybrid and electric-vehicle tax rules are currently split between enacted tax law and the still-unfinished Auto and Auto Parts Manufacturing Policy 2026–31. As of 24 September 2026, qualifying locally manufactured hybrid electric vehicles with engines up to 2,000 cc are no longer subject to the earlier 25% Table-II treatment. S.R.O. 1525(I)/2026, effective from 13 September 2026, moves those qualifying vehicles back to the standard 18% sales-tax framework. Specified locally assembled four-wheel EVs and certain EV CKD kits also continue to benefit from relief extended through 30 June 2027 under the FY2026–27 tax measures. By contrast, reported Auto Policy 2026–31 proposals covering future GST structures, EV financing, tariff changes, localisation and export-linked incentives are not yet final law.
