Chery Tiggo 8 Hybrid at Rs 10.999m: Is the Saving Real

· 0 Views · 6 min read

Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid price lock in Pakistan

The short answer: the Rs 1.29 million saving is real arithmetic, but it is measured against a Rs 12,289,000 “original price” that Chery Master quotes in its 9 October 2026 announcement. The new Price Lock price of Rs 10,999,000 is exactly the introductory price Chery Master announced when the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid launched in January 2026. Against the figure shown on Autowheels’ own price history before this week’s offer (about Rs 1.13 crore, roughly Rs 11.3 million), the gap is closer to Rs 300,000. The free 7 kW home charger, which Chery Master values at Rs 100,000, is a genuine extra while stock lasts.

Is the “Rs 1.29 million saving” real?

Chery Master announced the Limited Stock Price Lock Offer on Friday 9 October 2026. It says the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid is now Rs 10,999,000 against an original price of Rs 12,289,000, and that buyers also get a complimentary 7 kW home charger. The company says the sales tax applicable to plug-in hybrids has “nearly doubled” and presents the lock as shielding buyers from that rise. The sum is correct: 12,289,000 minus 10,999,000 is 1,290,000. What matters is what you compare it with.

Compared withPrice (Rs)Saving at Rs 10,999,000

Previous price on Autowheels’ price history (about 1.13 crore)about 11,300,000about 300,000 (indicative; Autowheels could not tie this to a dated maker notice)
January 2026 introductory launch price (valid to 31 January 2026)10,999,000Nil

So the honest reading is: it is a saving against the current list price, a small saving against where the car sat just before the offer, and no saving against what the first buyers paid in January. Those early buyers paid the same Rs 10,999,000, with a Rs 5,000,000 partial booking payment, and Chery Master said at the time that deliveries could start from April 2026.

What the offer actually includes

  • Price: Rs 10,999,000 ex-factory for the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid AWD, under a limited-stock offer.
  • Charger: a free 7 kW home charger, valued by Chery Master at Rs 100,000.
  • Limit: “limited stock”. No end date and no unit count have been published.
  • Not stated: whether the price is locked at booking or at delivery, whether the charger includes installation and wiring, and whether any variant other than the AWD car is covered.

A 7 kW charger can fill the 18.3 kWh battery in roughly 2.6 hours at best, before charging losses (Autowheels arithmetic, not a maker figure). It also needs a suitable home electrical connection, so ask who certifies the wiring. What the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid is, on Chery’s own figures

ItemFigure on Chery Pakistan’s Tiggo 8 page
Powertrain1.5-litre turbo petrol plug-in hybrid (1,499 cc), AWD
System output370 kW (496 hp) and 735 Nm
0 to 100 km/h6.8 seconds
Battery18.3 kWh
Electric rangeUp to 90 km (NEDC)
Combined rangeUp to 1,200 km (NEDC)
Seats and size7 seats, 4,725 × 1,860 × 1,705 mm
Extras listed10 airbags, 15.6-inch screen, head-up display, 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load output

Chery’s own footnote says range and charging figures come from controlled testing and that actual results vary with driving conditions, climate and electricity load. NEDC is an optimistic cycle, so budget for less than 90 km on battery. Full specifications are on Chery Pakistan’s Tiggo 8 page, and our own Tiggo 8 page and PHEV variant page carry the price history.

What it costs to run, with our assumptions shown

These are Autowheels’ own illustrations, not maker figures. Petrol (Super) is Rs 398.30 a litre as of 10 October on our fuel prices page.

CaseAssumptionCost per km
Petrol SUV8 km per litre, Rs 398.30 a litreabout Rs 50
Tiggo 8 on battery, claimed range18.3 kWh full charge at an illustrative Rs 60 a unit (about Rs 1,100), 90 kmabout Rs 12
Tiggo 8 on battery, cautious rangeSame charge, 60 km of real drivingabout Rs 18

The saving only appears if you charge it. A driver who plugs in nightly and covers short daily trips will use mostly electricity. A driver who never charges is paying for an AWD plug-in hybrid and running it as a heavy petrol car. Check your own electricity tariff and your home supply before you do the sums.

Where it sits against other seven-seat hybrids

ModelPrice (ex-factory)Battery and claimed electric rangePower
Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid AWDRs 10,999,000 (price lock)18.3 kWh, up to 90 km (NEDC)496 hp system, 735 Nm
Kia Sorento 1.6T AWD PHEVRs 16,499,000 (Lucky Motor offer from 7 October)13.8 kWh, 66 km (Lucky Motor figure)249 hp, 367 Nm

The range figures use different test cycles, so do not read them as a like-for-like race. The price gap is not in doubt: the Sorento PHEV is Rs 5.5 million more. Our Kia Sorento price cut guide covers what that money buys. The Hyundai Santa Fe, Haval H6 and Toyota Fortuner are the other large SUVs people cross-shop, and you can put the Tiggo 8 next to the Fortuner on our Tiggo 8 vs Fortuner G comparison.

Other Chery hybrids if seven seats are not essential

Chery Pakistan’s Super Hybrid range also includes the Tiggo 7 PHEV and the Tiggo 9 PHEV. Chery lists the Tiggo 9 as a seven-seat AWD with a 1,400 km claimed range. Prices on those two models are not part of this offer, so check them with a Chery dealer. Model pages: Tiggo 7 (PHEV) and Tiggo 9 (PHEV).

Should you take the offer?

  • Take it if you want a seven-seat AWD plug-in hybrid, you can charge at home, and the dealer confirms the Rs 10,999,000 price and the charger in writing.
  • Be careful if you were counting on the Rs 1.29 million figure as a discount against what the car cost last month. Compare against the invoice you were quoted, not the “original price”.
  • Wait if you cannot charge at home. A plug-in hybrid without a charger is a heavy petrol SUV.

Questions to ask before you pay

  1. Is Rs 10,999,000 locked at booking, or only if delivery happens by a certain date?
  2. How many units does the offer cover, and what is the delivery month for my booking?
  3. Does the charger include installation, and who certifies the wiring?
  4. Which variant is on offer at this price? Chery’s announcement describes the AWD car.
  5. What are freight, withholding tax, insurance and registration on top of the ex-factory price?
  6. If sales tax changes before delivery, who pays the difference?

Pakistan’s listed automotive sector posted a combined profit of around Rs28.4 billion in the April–June 2026 quarter, up 39.2% year-on-year, according to Arif Habib Limited sector research. Sazgar Engineering Works emerged as the largest individual earnings contributor with approximately Rs8.73 billion in quarterly profit, ahead of Indus Motor Company at around Rs6.11 billion and Honda Atlas Cars at approximately Rs2.49 billion. Atlas Honda, the separate motorcycle manufacturer, earned about Rs6.02 billion during the same April–June period. The earnings improvement was supported by stronger vehicle sales, recovering auto financing, and higher-value model activity, although other income and one-off items also made a meaningful contribution.
