Kia Sorento Hybrid & PHEV Price Cut: Which to Buy

· 0 Views · 6 min read

Kia Sorento hybrid and PHEV price cut in Pakistan

The short answer: for most buyers the Kia Sorento 1.6T AWD HEV at Rs 15,499,000 is the one to pick. Lucky Motor Corporation has put it at exactly the same price as the FWD HEV from 7 October 2026, and the AWD car carries far more equipment. Take the AWD PHEV at Rs 16,499,000 only if you can charge at home every night. The FWD HEV no longer makes sense at the same money. The offer is described as limited-time, and no end date has been announced.

The new Sorento prices

Lucky Motor Corporation announced promotional ex-factory prices for the hybrid and plug-in hybrid Sorento, effective 7 October 2026, as it marks 10 years of operations and 100,000 units sold. The cuts run up to Rs 2.5 million. The 3.5L V6 Sorento is not part of the offer.

Sorento 1.6T AWD PHEV18,999,00016,499,0002,500,000

Autowheels checked Lucky Motor’s own live price feed on 10 October 2026 and it showed Rs 15,499,000 for both HEV variants and Rs 16,499,000 for the PHEV. Those are the figures on our Kia Sorento page, with the AWD HEV and FWD HEV variant pages carrying the price history. Lucky Motor says the prices are ex-factory and exclude freight and insurance, and that any new or additional government duties or taxes applicable at delivery are for the buyer. Its own price list page also carries a note that final vehicle prices depend on clarity on federal sales tax, so ask for the price and tax position in writing.

Why the AWD HEV beats the FWD HEV at the same price

Lucky Motor’s own specification table shows what the same money buys on each car. The AWD HEV adds all-wheel drive with Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes, and a long list of driver aids that the FWD HEV does not list.

Both HEVs use the same 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid engine, rated at 238 hp and 367 Nm, with a 6-speed automatic and a small 1.49 kWh battery. The FWD car’s old Rs 16,299,000 price made sense as the entry hybrid. At Rs 15,499,000 for both, there is little reason left to choose FWD, unless the dealer can only offer you an FWD car for earlier delivery.

AWD HEV or AWD PHEV: what the extra Rs 1 million buys

Ground clearance174 mm176 mm

The PHEV gives you an electric-only car for short daily trips and a petrol hybrid for longer ones. It also has a smaller fuel tank, so petrol range between stops is shorter. The Rs 1 million premium only pays back if you plug in regularly.

An illustration, with our assumptions shown (not a maker figure): suppose a hybrid Sorento costs about Rs 33 a km in petrol (we assume 12 km a litre at Rs 398.30 a litre, the Super price on our fuel prices page as of 10 October). The PHEV’s 13.8 kWh battery over 66 km is about 0.21 kWh a km, which is about Rs 12.5 a km at an illustrative Rs 60 a unit. That saves about Rs 20 a km, so Rs 1 million is recovered after roughly 50,000 km driven on battery. At 40 km of battery driving a day, that is a little over three years. Real-world electric range will be lower than 66 km, which stretches the payback. If you cannot charge at home, take the HEV.

What about the 3.5L V6?

The petrol V6 (269 hp, 331 Nm, FWD) is not in this offer. Autowheels’ price history lists it at about Rs 1.36 crore since 12 September, but get a written quote from a dealer before you rely on that figure. The V6 lacks the lane-keeping and smart cruise features of the AWD cars and has no hybrid fuel saving, so with petrol at Rs 398.30 a litre it is a hard car to justify next to the hybrids.

Who should buy which Sorento

  • Most families: AWD HEV at Rs 15,499,000. Same price as the FWD, more equipment, no charging needed.
  • Home charger and short daily drives: AWD PHEV at Rs 16,499,000, for the electric-only commute.
  • Cross-shopping other large SUVs: compare the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Haval H6 on the same day, with written quotes.
  • Cheaper plug-in hybrid with seven seats: the Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid is Rs 10,999,000 under Chery Master’s limited-stock price lock. See our Chery Tiggo 8 price lock guide and the Tiggo 8 page.
  • Bigger people-mover: the Kia Carnival. For a smaller Kia SUV, see the Sportage L.

Before you pay a booking amount

  1. Ask the dealer to name the variant and the exact ex-factory price on the booking order.
  2. Ask whether the price is fixed at booking or at delivery, since the offer has no published end date.
  3. Ask what the delivery month is for the AWD HEV and the PHEV, because stock may differ.
  4. Ask for freight, insurance, withholding tax and registration shown as separate lines.
  5. Check who pays if the government changes taxes before delivery. Lucky Motor’s terms put new taxes on the buyer.
  6. Pay only into Lucky Motor’s official accounts, and insist on a signed booking order.
  7. If you already booked at the old price, ask Lucky Motor’s dealer in writing whether the new price applies to your order.

Pakistan’s listed automotive sector posted a combined profit of around Rs28.4 billion in the April–June 2026 quarter, up 39.2% year-on-year, according to Arif Habib Limited sector research. Sazgar Engineering Works emerged as the largest individual earnings contributor with approximately Rs8.73 billion in quarterly profit, ahead of Indus Motor Company at around Rs6.11 billion and Honda Atlas Cars at approximately Rs2.49 billion. Atlas Honda, the separate motorcycle manufacturer, earned about Rs6.02 billion during the same April–June period. The earnings improvement was supported by stronger vehicle sales, recovering auto financing, and higher-value model activity, although other income and one-off items also made a meaningful contribution.
