The letters CSL stand for Competition, Sport and Lightweight, and the model was developed to deliver the most focused road-and-track experience in the current M4 family. BMW Pakistan quotes 551 hp and 650 Nm from the high-performance M TwinPower Turbo inline-six petrol engine. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, making the CSL fundamentally different from the all-wheel-drive M4 CS.
BMW M removed or redesigned numerous components to reduce weight by up to 100 kilograms compared with the M4 Competition Coupé. The rear seats are deleted, sound insulation is reduced, and fixed M Carbon full bucket seats replace conventional comfort seats. Carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic is used for the roof, bonnet and boot lid, while other lightweight components are applied throughout the body and cabin. The result is a two-seat car with sharper responses and a more direct connection between the driver, tyres and road, but also less everyday comfort.
The chassis receives model-specific springs, dampers, anti-roll bars, control arms and alignment settings. M Traction Control provides multiple intervention levels, allowing experienced drivers to adjust how much wheel slip is permitted on a circuit. The steering, braking system and transmission software are also calibrated for track use. Special Ultra Track tyres deliver exceptional grip when warm and used in suitable conditions, but they are less forgiving in heavy rain, colder weather or dusty environments and may be difficult and expensive to replace in Pakistan.
Its exterior design clearly communicates the motorsport focus. Frozen Brooklyn Grey metallic was created as the signature colour, while Alpine White and Sapphire Black metallic were also officially available. Red accent lines outline exposed carbon areas on the bonnet, roof and side skirts, and the stripped-back kidney grille carries red detailing and CSL badging. The integrated rear spoiler, carbon splitter, aerodynamic air-curtain inserts and carbon diffuser are functional elements rather than decoration. Owners must protect these low and costly components from ramps, kerbs and broken road surfaces.
The cabin is intentionally minimal but still includes essential digital and infotainment functions. The carbon seats hold the driver securely and reduce movement during hard cornering, although their fixed structure, low position and limited adjustment may be uncomfortable for some people. There is no rear seating, making the CSL unsuitable for family use. Luggage capacity remains available in the rear boot, but the car is primarily designed for driving rather than touring comfort.
