(+Ex-Factory Price)The Deepal S05 is a range-extended electric SUV developed for Pakistan buyers who like the smooth, rear-wheel-drive character of an EV but need the freedom to continue travelling when public charging is unavailable, combining a 27.28 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery, a 215 hp electric motor, a 1.5-litre petrol range extender, 170 km of official NEDC electric range and more than 1,000 km of claimed combined range. Its 4,620 mm body, wide 1,900 mm stance and 2,880 mm wheelbase provide generous cabin space, while frameless windows, a panoramic roof, zero-gravity front passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, AR head-up display, 15.4-inch touchscreen, 14-speaker system and comprehensive driver assistance give it a premium technology focus. The S05 is more flexible for long-distance Pakistani travel than a pure EV, although its additional petrol engine increases mechanical complexity, fuel and servicing remain part of ownership, and buyers should treat advertised range figures as comparative estimates rather than guaranteed real-world results.
The Deepal S05 is the most accessible and most locally practical model in Deepal Pakistan’s current line-up because it uses range-extended electric vehicle technology rather than relying only on a large traction battery. The rear wheels are driven by an electric motor, so the vehicle retains the quiet and immediate response associated with an EV, while a 1.5-litre petrol engine works as a generator when the battery needs support. This arrangement is particularly relevant in Pakistan, where home charging is convenient for many daily journeys but public fast-charging coverage can still be uneven. The official exterior colors are Celestial Red, Neptune Blue, Galaxy Black, Space Grey, Lunar Silver and Stellar White.
The S05 REEV Max uses a 160 kW, approximately 215 hp, permanent-magnet synchronous motor with 320 Nm of torque and rear-wheel drive. Its 27.28 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery provides a quoted 170 km NEDC pure-electric range, while the official combined range exceeds 1,000 km when the range extender and 44.9-litre fuel tank are used. DC charging from 30 to 80 percent is listed at around 20 minutes, and the vehicle supports a 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load function for powering compatible external devices. Drivers who charge regularly can complete many urban journeys electrically, while petrol backup reduces anxiety on longer routes.
Packaging is another major strength. The S05 measures 4,620 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,600 mm high, with a 2,880 mm wheelbase and 169 mm ground clearance. The long wheelbase supports rear legroom, while the official brochure lists a 492-litre luggage area and numerous smaller storage spaces. The cabin includes a 15.4-inch Sunflower touchscreen, AR head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 50 W wireless charging, a 14-speaker audio system and 64-color ambient lighting. The zero-gravity front passenger seat, powered front seats, memory functions, heating, ventilation and panoramic glass roof give the interior a more premium feel than many conventional compact SUVs.
Deepal’s FutureSense 2.0 assistance package adds integrated adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic assistance, driver monitoring, remote straight-in and straight-out parking and a 360-degree camera. Six airbags, tyre-pressure monitoring, stability control and hill-descent control are also listed in the Pakistan brochure. These technologies can make commuting and highway travel easier, but they do not replace attentive driving. The 18-inch wheels and 225/60 R18 tyres should offer a better balance of comfort and replacement cost than the larger wheels fitted to the S07.
The S05’s main compromise is complexity. It has a battery, electric drive system, fuel tank and petrol generator, so it cannot offer the mechanical simplicity of a pure battery EV. Owners must still maintain the range-extender engine and use suitable fuel, while the maximum environmental and cost benefit depends on charging frequently rather than driving mainly on petrol-generated electricity. The official battery warranty is eight years or 240,000 km, and the limited vehicle warranty is five years or 150,000 km. For Pakistan buyers who want electric daily driving without depending completely on public chargers, the S05 offers an unusually practical combination of range, equipment and space.
